HOW TO GET HERE

The NMW COE can be reached easily by air and railway. There are frequent railway connections between the major cities in surrounding countries, Brussels main railway stations, Brussels National airport and Ostend. The COE NMW is a 10-minutes’ walk (800 meters) from the Ostend railway station.

As part of the European Union, all EU citizens can travel freely with national ID card only. Valid Passport is needed for Non-EU citizens only.

By air

Belgium is a hub to many major airlines. Brussels Airport is the major airport of Belgium and is connected with frequent trains to Brussels and, from there, to the rest of Belgium. To reach Ostend from the airport you can board a train at the airport, change trains at Brussels North and continue to Ostend.

If your flight lands at Charleroi Airport, you can use the shuttle to reach Brussels North train station. It is recommended to book your ticket online in advance, in order not to waste time in the long ticket queue. You can find additional information at Brussels City Shuttle.

By Railway

The Belgian National Railways operate the rail network. The majority of the international lines pass through Brussels, the centre of this network. There is a frequent train service from Brussels to almost all parts of the country.

From Amsterdam:

Every hour a train leaves Amsterdam for Antwerp. In Antwerp, you have to change trains to Ostend. The time to change trains is less than 5 minutes. This train also stops at Gent and Bruges. Total travel time is approximately 4 hours.

From France and the United Kingdom:

High-speed trains (TGV) from Paris and London both stop at Lille-Flanders (FR) and/or Brussels, from where you can proceed to Ostend. You can visit the internet sites of Thalys and Eurostar companies for additional information.

By Car

Belgium has a dense network of highways. Driving times between all major cities are 1-2 hours. Due to strong congestion on the Belgian network (especially in the Northern part), the use of navigation application such as WAZE is strongly encouraged.
